Loshar, the biggest Tibetan Festival was celebrated with mirth and laughter on 14th February, 2010 at Arya Tara School. The day began with a visit to White Monastery at Boudhanath, a Buddhist pilgrimage in Kathmandu where the nuns also got blessing from Urgyen Tulkhu Yangse Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, etc. After their return to the school, all the students were busy preparing for the major event of the day.
The celebration started with a welcome speech by Our School Principal Gyaltsen Rangdol Wangmo and with a Guru Buddha Prayer by small nuns. The students of Charya Dance performed Manjushree Dance, Sodasa Lasya Dance and Harit Tara Dance. Kisa Gautami Play and Woodcutter were presented by the nuns under the guidance of Arya Tara School teachers at the school. Even the ATS music students played Sarange and sang a group song called “Phool Ko Aakhama” from the album "Moment of Bliss" of well known singer Ani Choying Drolma. Shree Tara Band, Nepal’s first female instrumental band also filled the serene ambience with melodious and heart rending tunes.
The celebration was held in the school premises in the presence of Ani Choying Dolma and some of our well wishers, friends, and supporters. At the end of the programme, Thangka painting completion’s prize was also distributed by Ms. Dil Shova Shrestha, the founder of Old Age Home “Ama Ko Ghar” was requested to do the honors of distributing prizes to our skillful and talented nuns who excelled in the competition. It was a day of merrymaking as the day ended with dancing, singing and eating good food.
