The word Loshar is a Tibetan word that means New Year. Loshar is the most important Tibetan festival which is celebrated for 2 weeks.  This year, the traditional Tibetan New Year’s day fell on March 05th, 2011.  Loshar celebration was held in the school premises in the presence of Ani Choying Drolma and some of our well wishers, supporters, friends, guest, etc.  The day began with a visit to White Monastery at Boudhanath in Kathamandu valley where the nuns received blessing from His eminence Urgyen Tulku Yangse Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, etc.

 

After the return to school, all the students were busy preparing for their performances. After the arrival of the guests the celebration started with a welcome speech by the anchors Ani Ngawang Dolkar and Ani Ogyen Tsomo.  In addition the small nuns sang a welcome song called Swagatam which means “Welcome”.   The small nuns recited prayers to Guru Buddha before all the performances.  Ani Nyima Sangmo from the Charya Nritya Class performed a Vajra Yogini Dance.  There was a group dance performance on Mero Aanthar by the small nuns.

 

As time passed Ani Samten Dolma, Ani Kunga Palmo, Ani Kunchok Yangzom and Ani Jamyang Pema sang a Tibetan song named “Sharchyog Rewe Tseyne”.  It is one of the songs which has been sung and written by His Holiness The Dalai Lama Rinchen Tsangyang Gyatsom.   The students of Charya Nritya performed Pancha Buddha and Arya Tara.  All the guests enjoyed the Charya Nritya performance.   To create a laughing environment the students of Arya Tara School presented a play on Aape and Sape.  It was a play in Nepali language.  One of former student Ani Pema Lhakey from Vanaras University shared her views to encourage the students of Arya Tara School and the audience too.  Before the end of the programme the students of Sarangi class performed on the most popular folk song of Nepali called Resham Fhiri Ri which filled the serene ambience with melodious and heart rending tunes.    The day ended with dancing, singing and eating good foods.
