   Daily duties, morning assembly and exercise- Each day in Arya Tara begins with a prayer service followed by studies for an hour and then breakfast. All nuns have specific duties of cleaning the classrooms, dormitories and the entire building and school premises before classes commence. Nuns also have daily kitchen cleaning and cooking duties on rotation basis. At 9:45 all nuns line up according to their classes, do some stretching and exercise, followed by morning assembly and then classes commence.

  Lhosar 2007- Lhosar, the biggest Tibetan festival was celebrated with mirth and laughter on 18th February 2007 at Arya Tara. The day began with a visit to Swayanbhunath, a Buddhist pilgrimage in Kathmandu where the nuns also met with a guru. After their return to the school, all the students were busy preparing for the major event of the day- a skit on Buddha’s life was presented by the nuns under the guidance of Vera Streither a volunteer at the school. It was a day of merrymaking as the day ended with dancing, singing and a lot of good food!

  Report day- The annual report day for the session 2006-2007 was held on April 8th 2007 amidst various guests and well wishers of Ani Choying. The results of the nuns show great improvement from previous years. Certificates and gifts were presented to the first, second and third positions in each class. The outstanding student of the year 2007 was presented to Pema Chokyi of class one who secured 96% in her examinations.

  Vegetable gardening course- Six nuns from ATS participated in a week long vegetable gardening course organized by the local community in Pharphing in June 2007. They gathered knowledge and experience on the various aspects of vegetable gardening and the different seasonal vegetables and their plantation periods. These nuns help our gardener with her daily chores.

  Field trip to Bhaktapur- A field trip to Bhaktapur, ancient Nepali township was organized in the month of March, 2007. The nuns visited important historical places like the Durbar Square, the Naag Pokhari, and various other temples and museum amidst others. This trip was an eye opener to the rich cultural and architectural history of Nepal. Each nun was asked to prepare a comprehensive report of the field trip, be it in writing for the older nuns or in a form of a drawing for the younger ones. Field trip and picnic to Botanical garden, Godavari (will write once we go there)

  Medical checkups- All nuns have been vaccinated against tuberculosis and Hepatitis. Regular eye and dental checkups are provided at Manmohan, a Community Hospital in Pharphing. Moreover, all the nuns received a total medical checkup by a visiting general physician from the US Dr. Paul Hart in September.

  Spiritual Learning- A week long seminar on spiritual education was organized at ATS during the Dashain vacations in October 2007

  Visit to Kopan Monastery and Samatha Siksha Niketan- During Kay Ehrbar’s stay at ATS, he took a group of 8 and 10 nuns to visit the Kopan Monastery and the Samatha Siksha Niketan School respectively. At Kopan the ATS nuns witnessed the regular heated debate sessions based on religious texts the Kopan nuns performed besides a tour of the fabulous Kopan monastery. At Samatha, which is popular known as the bamboo or the 100 rupee school, the nuns got to interact with the hundred of children studying there.
