On February 14th, 2010, the Thanka School conducted its second year art competiton under two categories; Traditional Thanka Painting and Modern Art.  The Traditional Thanka Painting students were to draw the portrait of Manjushree in full clothes, and similarly, the modern art students were to draw the portrait of Mahatma Gandi.

Farewell to our dear friend, Mr. Kay Ehrbar

On the 24^th of March, 2009 Arya Tara School hosted a farewell party to a close friend of the school, Mr. Kay Ehrbar, who has been helping Nuns’ Welfare Foundation of Nepal for many years now and has worked as a volunteer at Arya Tara School too. Arya Tara School family wanted to take this opportunity to show its heartfelt gratitude towards Mr. Kay for his wonderful and continuous support towards ATS.

Thanka Painting School is an integral part of Arya Tara School (ATS). The Art division was introduced in ATS in the year 2007. The main objective to introduce an art division in the school was to flourish the hidden artist inside a simple nun.

Mr. Chompel, Thanka Artist from Dharamshala, India has been appointed as the residential Thanka Painting teacher at ATS. Today the school has twenty of its nuns enrolled in the traditional art learning, under the two broad categories of Thanka Painting, and Modern Art.
